Kevin Costner impressed by Arad red wines

Kevin Costner and the members of his rock band, "Modern West", were invited in Romania by the organizers of the Romanian International Film Festival, held in Arad at the beginning of this month. He and and his band spent a very pleasant evening at "Geza&Monica" in Miniş, Arad. "I didn't know what to expect but the people were so generous. I had 'goulash and plenty of wine", said Costner.

"They had pancake with mushrooms and meat, second course was veal soup with tarragon and then it was pork goulash with porcini mushrooms, dumplings and fried cabbage. The guests were positively impressed by Arad red wines" declared the host, Tüdős Géza.

Wine Celebration in to the Vineyards

the "Wine Celebration in the Vineyards " festival poster

After several editions of the wine festival held in the city of Arad, a new approach was took and for the first time a wine festival was organized in to the vineyards. It was a different sort of festival because it was "on the road". The events were held between 12 and 20 September in the localities situated along the Miniş-Măderat Vineyards.

traditional dance at Şiria

Started ten years ago, the efforts of Arad County Council to establish an Wine Route in to the Miniş-Măderat Vineyards had two major results. First it was the road rehabilitation, from Păuliş to Pâncota, which is an ongoing project financed by EU. The second notable result it is this wine festival organized together with the Arad County Cultural Center and, of course, with the support of Pauliş, Covăsânţ, Şiria and Pâncota communities.

The organizers proposed not only the tasting of grapes and wines or to assist to the various traditional music and dance spectacles but also to visit some of the touristic attraction in the area, apart from the wine cellars, such as the Wine Museum and the Honey Museum in Miniş, the Transportation Museum in Ghioroc, or the "Ioan Slavici and Emil Montia" Memorial Museum in Şiria.
